Bernie McManus

Bernie McManus is an independent personal property appraiser, and has been in the business of appraising antiques, fine art and household contents for 38 years, and in Woodbury for the past 26 of those years. Prior to becoming a full time appraiser, in 1992, Mr. McManus also was proprietor of his own antique and rare book shop here in Woodbury. He prepares inventories and appraisals for insurance, probate, equitable division, donation and sale following the principles set forth in the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice of The Appraisal Foundation of Washington DC, which has been authorized by the US Congress, and acts as a personal consultant for collection development. Mr. McManus also is an adjunct professor at CW Post College Division of Long Island University, teaching courses in furniture history and connoisseurship.

Mr. McManus is a founding member of the Woodbury Business Association and has been its president two times, and was a founding member of the Woodbury Antiques Dealers Association. He is active in town affairs, and has been chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Woodbury Library, sits on the Board of Directors of the Woodbury Community Services Council, is president of the Board of Directors of the Woodbury Interfaith Elderly Housing Corporation (Spruce Bank Farms), and is treasurer of the Friends of the Woodbury Senior Center.
