Dietrich Gardens, LLC

Kim and Dan Dietrich

It is never too early to start planning for spring. Despite the blustery weather conditions, as you enter Dietrich Gardens, you are energized to brighten any area with flowers and start planning your garden.

In 1978, Kim and Dan Dietrich opened their business with a Southington fruit and vegetable market and 35 acre farm that they leased in Cheshire. The Dietrich’s, who are customer-driven, realized that their customers wanted to purchase plants so they changed their business strategy and leased a garden center in Cheshire, which is still in operation today. In 1987, the Dietrich’s purchased a 16 acre farm, Dietrich Gardens, in Woodbury.Dietrich Gardens consists of four hoop houses for growing and a gutter-connected greenhouse. The main building houses the gift center lines. In addition, there is an open roof glass house and another greenhouse with a potting area. The Dietrich’s grow a variety of annual and perennial plants and assure that as growers they are able to maintain quality control. As you walk through the greenhouses, you can smell the assorted scents of flowers, and see vibrant-colored flowering plants.

The most compelling reason for you to visit Dietrich Gardens is its wide selection of container gardens. This is the most popular trend in gardening where you can enjoy a small piece of a garden all year long. Another advantage of container gardens is that you can bring these gardens outside during the warmer months. There is an abundant variety of pottery and clay pots and an assortment of sizes and colors. The Dietrich’s commented that as more of us are spending time at home this is a perfect opportunity to bring our interior design to outside walkways, landings and porches.

Dietrich Gardens’ staff includes seven full time and approximately seven seasonal employees, all who work extremely hard to make this garden center a success. Kim and Dan have four children, two still in college and two working at Dietrich Gardens. The Dietrich’s values center around family, school and work. Their business motto is customer satisfaction, which is evident not only in the easy access building structure, but also in the environment where customers informally are instructed on the needs of a specific flower or plant.

To enhance customer service, the Dietrich’s are planning an indoor seating area overlooking a majestic water garden. The area is located on the west side of the building where the sun sets. This area will have comfortable seating and reading materials.

Kim Dietrich states the goal for their business is to continue “to make people happy” by offering a variety of plants, flowers and gift selections. Whether you are searching for a gift or something to enhance your own living quarters, Dietrich Gardens’ gift and garden center lines will positively match your needs.
